La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair: Review

La Roche Posay

Issues

About three weeks ago my skin was going crazy. We had a few incredibly hot days and it looked like Mr Sun had picked me as its victim. My acne marks seems more pronounced, I had a big sun spot on the top of my forehead and even my hormonal spots on my chin (yeah thank birth control that’s one of the reason I stopped taking you) seemed darker, even concealer couldn’t do its job!

When something drastic happens to my skin my first instinct is panic. (Yes I know…) But then I assessed my situation. I guess my always bipolar ultra sensitive skin reacted in a very wrong way to the weather switch and unfortunately my current cream couldn’t keep up. So I seek advice. It’s always nice to have someone to turn to. I messaged one of the bloggers I know that is very wise in those matters Style Sprinter

Right of the bat she suggested La Roche Posay.  I looked it up immediately. Including the Cosdna.

It’s the Cosmetic’s DNA, as you see in the chart bellow in gives you information about each ingredient. How high the rate in possibility of acne, irritation and overall safety.

As you can see it checks out almost all points except a couple of red ones. Isobutane which also scores 7 on Skin Deep  is a hydrocarbon gas usually used as a propellant in aerosols. And Methyl Methacrylate which is viscosity increasing organic compound.

I thought about this all for a while. But decided to give it a try, because if you attempt to get into the complex study of all the ingredients and how they interact you have a chance of loosing your marbles. (Believe me in my search for clear skin I tried, but more about that later)

I chose a version without UV because I prefer using mineral sunscreens. AND…

But first:

The ingredients

Niacinamide – the water soluble Vitamin B3. It’s hard to decide where to begin when it comes to Niacinamide! It increases cellular energy, speeding up the cell turnover and microcirculation thus slowing aging. Prevents moisture loss and protects against environmental aggressors by improving skin’s barrier function. It is also anti-bacterial regulating sebum and calming break outs. It evens out skin tone and works on diminishing enlarged pores. And it’s a match for all skin types!

Ceramide 3 – the lipid molecule from the Ceramide family. Ceramides are major components in the Stratum Corneum and other four layers of the human skin. They replenish moisture and prevent further moisture loss as well as create a barrier which reduces infection.

The results

Just three days later I’ve noticed the difference! I was amazed!!! One of the few products I’ve ever tried that gives you results so quickly!!! Both hormonal and sun spot had faded! It is also gentle enough to use on the under-eye area. Moisturizes nicely and is a great base for make-up. And 0 irritation, stinging or any adverse effects.

Definitely worth giving it a try!

It has also been included in Allure’s top 16 moisturizers under $20 and has an award.
