The Look

I know, I know… Florals again… I was going to wear something else. Honestly! Something I was planing for a while…  (I plan sometimes! ) And then, well humidity happened. I feel like I should stop being astonished by the temperatures and the aforementioned humidity but I’m a complainer so… But raise your hand if you like it? And so to make up for the ‘ florals’ again! here is the lovely background of the Pier 17 and the Brooklyn + Manhattan bridges! I just wish we could swim… But no seriously that poor river is so polluted a visit to the doctor is a must if one decides to somehow submerge themselves…

Anyway after checking the levels (97% humidity and over 90 F/32C I was saved by this Asos romper. Scroll down for the link it is still available and SO affordable!!! One piece pull-on and no brassiere required! I also fell in love with how the green, white and yellow blooms looks on the black background. My kind of floral!

What do you like to wear in summer? How do you deal with the heat? Is it actually still hot were you are? I’ve seen some Londoners layering already!

The Area

Heavily damaged during the storm the area is getting rebuilt. The new shopping center will open very soon. My favorite part though is the added boardwalk with steps and seats. And the perfect view of the bridges.

Another part of the Pier 17 that was damaged was the Peking. The German built freighter that had been on the South Street Seaport since 1974. Saved from the scrapyard at the age of 63 by a wealthy Navy lieutenant she sustained significant damage after the Sandy storm. The trouble was the Seaport had no funds whatsoever… The negotiations had began back in 2012 to return her back home to Hamburg. Otherwise she would face the scrapyard yet again… In November 2015 The Maritim Foundation had purchased the ship for $100 US Dollars! It cost them upwards of 1 Million Euro to transport the 117 year old vessel across the Atlantic. And just over a year ago she was transferred to the Peters Werft in Weweisfleth for a three year refurbishment that will cost an estimated 26 Million Euro. Which will include: New rigging, New double floor steel plates, Dismounting of all masts  (because these are too rotten), Docking in dry-dock and renewal of the steel structure, Removal of the cement that fills the lower three and a half meters of the Hull.

After that Peking is to become a part of the Deutsches Hafenmusem (German Port Museum) in Hamburg.  There also might be an opportunity to make her sail again!

The empty spot left by Peking was replaced by the British built Wavertree. You can see it behind me in one of the photos! She is also a steel hulled ex-freighter saved and restored.

When I finally make it to Germany I am planning to visit Peking at her new location!

What is your dream destination in the world?

The Skincare

I don’t like tanning. Period. Takes too much effort… 😀 Also tan lines… (No one can walk around naked to get an even color so…) Yes, perfectionist/OCD problems…  Besides I much prefer to be pale. Though it is somewhat unavoidable… (Unless you willing to wear gloves, scarf, long sleeves and pants and perhaps a sunbrella…!) Too much effort right!  My skin gets super irritated by all these summer conditions and you want to put a lotion on but then you feel like you got out the hot pool water after a few minutes! To calm down my skin and not let it turn into a desert I’ve recently started using Aloe Vera gel. Just enough moisture and it really helps in pacifying the irritated dermis! I really recommend it! Get my favorite here. And if its really hot and humid keep it in the fridge!

Also I post about favorite products on my Instagram stories under feature ‘Beauty’.

Are you a beach bum or a snow-white? How do you take care of your skin in summer?
