How it began
I do live in a very big city. Sometimes thinking about how it affects my skin drives me up the wall… But what can we do except to… Move to a picturesque Alpine castle far away from all the pollution! We wish right. But we can help our skin in its battle against elements.
I am certain you’ve heard of innovative and various nature of Korean cosmetics. Also very attractive reasonable prices. So scrolling through iHerb one day I found this brand. The packaging looks even cuter when it just arrives, the face and eye creams are packaged inside small milk cartoons! (Of course I forgot to take photos of that…) I am a sucker for cute, but what also attracted me to it was that advertised main ingreident was milk protein. And that it was whitening. Yes, pale for life, thank you. 😉 I got blotched by the merciless summer Sun so was in real need of some calming.
My skin is combination, leaning towards the oilier side so foregoing a moisturizer was never a solution. My skin produces too much oil if I do not apply lotion, and dry parts look horrid with make-up on top. (I use Curology for acne which been a game changer for me. And you can read about it here: Me and Curology ).
The Ingredients
So yes the Milk Protein, it helps:
- Calm redness/Heal sunburn
- Fight wrinkles (Enzymes, Vitamins etc)
- Moisturizes (Proteins)
- Whitens
- Gentle exfoliation with Lactic Acid
I’ve also decided to finally not go insane breaking my head and my eyes(!) about all the ingredients in everything I use. The main ones I am doing everything to avoid are: Parabens , Petroleum Bi-products (Petrolatum, Mineral Oil etc), Benzoil Peroxide, SLS (Most of the time), Avobenzone (The chemical sunscreen) and alike. Reasonable, do you think?
And to G9 line. They score very well on Cosdna website. Here is the link if you’d like to check it out – Cosdna.
And here are the Ingredients of the ‘White in Whipping Cream’ as listed on iHerb:
Milk Protein, reservatrol, niacinamide, Blackberry, Hibiscus and Eucalyptus extracts, Gluthathione to name a few ingredients which that attracted me to try it.
Meadow is always helping! This is how the cream looks. The texture is whipped, but not like a mouse, more dense. It is very light, with a pleasant scent it looks like you put concealer on before you put concealer!
(If you have darker skin or like to tan however this one might not be for you.) Absorbs easily, AND so important doesn not irritate. EVER.
This is the texture of the eye cream. I would describe it as Oil-Gel type with small granules within. (They do absorb as quick as the rest of the cream.) Believe me when I tell you, this is the MOST moisturizing cream I have ever tried. Before I use to have a problem of dry undereyes, even in warm weather. (Maybe my concealer was greedy and ate all the moisture…) But this one stays! Even now running my finger under my eyes the skin feels nice and supple.
The Ingredients of ‘White in Milk Capsule Eye Cream’ as on iHerb:
And look Milk Protein the first ingredient!!!
The is the Toner. Not your regular one. I splash some on my face and wipe with a cotton pad. It is incredibly calming and refreshing.
The Sunscreen or Sun Milk as they call it. Has the texture of a liquid yogurt. The FIRST sunblock that will make you say you love the scent! It’s Mineral and it’s 50+. And unlike many mineral sunscreens it has 0 white cast. I have already repurchased it. After discovering how great this one is I used it the rest of the summer on my face and plan to in the colder months as well.
Latest addition to my G9 routine is this serum. (It was sold out at first and then I found it on Amazon.) Gel cream texture that absorbs almost immediately. Another G9 signature, same light pleasant scent and I just can’t stop looking at it. I wish everything came in a clear container!
Those tiny balls, come out as these white particles, but they absorb just as the rest with no residue. It’s the most lightweight and gentle serum I’ve tried. Yet for being so light it is very moisturizing.
This is the non-whipped version of the face cream. I’ve actually got it by accident. (Thought I was buying the former) But It was a lucky one! It is so emolient! Suitable for windy winter months. No white cast and an incredible base for make up. Also a bigger jar! Just like the rest of the line it doesn’t clog my pores and is perfect for sensitive skin types.
Two compacts always in my bag
I have never tried cushions before but I became so impressed with this one it is now the permanent fixture in my bag. I dab it over make up when my combination skin needs extra help. It really suffers in winter and always needs large amounts of moisture. The cushion is cooling and gives you light glow and spf is just an added bonus. Get it here.
My skin gets really oily too (Ah the joys of combination skin!) and this worked so well in the morning and then midday to matte up forehead and cheeks. Make up stays on longer and looks better. You need only a few light dabs. And the compact’s so small you can take it anywhere. 🙂 It also makes skin incredibly soft! I switched to colorless powders a couple of years back and G9 version works and is really affordable. Get one here.
Where to buy
I found G9 Skin on iHerb and there are a few option on Amazon.com and Amazon.de In US it is also sold at Kohls . And you can also find it on G9Skin.sg and G9skin.com
Conclusion
G9Skin is one of my favorite lines now. I have never had creams so gentle and so moisturizing! With cold weather moving in and NYC being more polluted then ever I’ll continue using it.
